At
the March meeting, Dr. Norma Granville spoke about her father, Z.D.
Granville, and his 4 brothers, who began life on a New Hampshire
farm and went on to become world famous as the Granville Brothers
of aviation fame, building the famous Gee Bee racers and other aircraft
designs and innovations. Hers was not a technical talk, but one
full of family history and antedotes. Many sildes were shown of
the farm and early designs made by Z.D., including a wooden "calculator"
(which he did not patent because he did not have the $15.00 for
the application)! Our thanks to Dr. Granville for a most interesting
and humorous look at a group of true innovators.
